Cursor Marketing Software Privacy Principles
The "Cursor Marketing Software" is an open source ad serving software platform that allows website publishers to serve advertisements on their websites. The "Cursor Marketing Hosted Service" is a service provided by Cursor Marketing which allows website publishers to use the Cursor Marketing Software on servers hosted by Cursor Marketing or its Service Providers. We prepared these Cursor Marketing Software Privacy Principles so website publishers that use the Cursor Marketing Software and the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service ("Publishers"), and end users of such Publishers' websites ("Users"), could learn more about information privacy in connection with the Cursor Marketing Software and Cursor Marketing Hosted Service.
Except as otherwise noted in these Cursor Marketing Software Privacy Principles, Cursor Marketing's data collection and use practices for the Cursor Marketing Software apply to the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service.
- Information We Collect Specifically Through The Cursor Marketing Software and Cursor Marketing Hosted Service.
(a) Dashboard Information . The Cursor Marketing Software provides Publishers with a dashboard to manage and track ad campaigns. We collect server logs of accesses to this dashboard, including IP address, the number of times a particular page is viewed and other usage information. In addition, we provide content on this dashboard page, such as the aggregate number of ads being served across all Cursor Marketing Publisher websites. To achieve this, Cursor Marketing software passes an anonymous, unique ID to the central Cursor Marketing servers. Publishers who use the Cursor Marketing Software may decline to share the information disclosed in this paragraph with Cursor Marketing by adjusting the update settings on their Cursor Marketing Ad Server. This option is not available to Publishers who use the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service.
(b) Ad Server Heartbeat Information. For maintenance purposes, the Cursor Marketing Software connects to a central server managed by Cursor Marketing or its Service Providers and provides information such as IP address, operating system, Web server, database type and version, and aggregate ad serving information such as total number of ad impressions and clicks. Publishers may (i) opt out of the collection of aggregate ad serving information by using the opt out procedure located in the settings section of the Cursor Marketing Software; and/or (ii) opt out of the collection of the server IP address, operating system, Web server, database type and version by choosing not to receive Cursor Marketing Software updates. Neither of the foregoing options is available to Publishers using the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service because the service operates on servers owned or leased by Cursor Marketing or its Service Providers.
(c) Consumer Data. Cursor Marketing Software may collect anonymous usage information that does not reflect or reference an individually identifiable User ("Non-Personal Information"). This Non-Personal Information may include information normally in Web server logs such as Cursor Marketing cookie information, IP address and page request details.
(d) Plug-In Data. The Cursor Marketing Software and Cursor Marketing Hosted Service collect information concerning the use of plug-ins for the Cursor Marketing Software. Publishers who use the Cursor Marketing Software may opt out of the collection of such information by not installing such plug-ins or by electing to not receive software updates for the Cursor Marketing Software. Publishers who use the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service may not opt out of the installation of such plug-ins or the collection of such information.
(e) Cursor Marketing Hosted Service. Cursor Marketing collects all of the foregoing information from the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service. Because the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service is hosted on servers owned or leased by Cursor Marketing or its Service Providers, all information ordinarily collected by Publishers using the Cursor Marketing Software is collected by Cursor Marketing on behalf of Publishers who use the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service. Additionally, Cursor Marketing collects information concerning Publishers' use of the web-based interfaces of the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service, including Publisher's Non-Personal Information and dashboard usage information. With respect to advertisements hosted through the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service, Cursor Marketing collects the URL, advertiser, type of ad, number of impressions and other related information. In the future, Cursor Marketing may collect personal information from Publishers who use the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service if necessary to make payments to such Publishers for advertising revenue generated using the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service and (in the case of high volume Publishers) to receive payments from such Publishers for fees associated with the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service. This information includes the Publisher's name, email address, physical address, country of residence, telephone, fax number and credit card, bank account and other information necessary for Cursor Marketing to make and receive payments to and from such Publishers.
- How We Use Information We Collect Specifically Through the Cursor Marketing Software and Cursor Marketing Hosted Service. We use the information we collect through the Cursor Marketing Software and Cursor Marketing Hosted Service in order to host and operate the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service, to provide Publishers with useful information, to provide maintenance in connection with the Cursor Marketing Software and Cursor Marketing Hosted Service, to investigate compliance with Cursor Marketing's policies and terms and conditions and to further develop and improve the Cursor Marketing Software, Cursor Marketing Hosted Service and related products and services, including the Cursor Marketing Software plug-ins.
- Publisher's Privacy Policy Applies to Users. Users should read each Publisher's own privacy policy to learn how the Publisher collects, uses, and protects information that it may collect or that may be collected in connection with Publisher's website. While we encourage Publishers to adopt information privacy practices consistent with ours, we are not responsible or liable for any Publisher's information privacy practices or the privacy practices of a Publisher's advertisers or other business partners.
- Changes. From time to time, we may change these Cursor Marketing Software Privacy Principles. If we decide to change these Principles, in whole or in part, we will inform you by posting the revised Principles on the Cursor Marketing website. Those changes will go into effect on the Effective Date disclosed at the end of the revised Principles. Your continued use of the Cursor Marketing Software or the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service constitutes your agreement to abide by the Cursor Marketing Software Privacy Principles as revised. If you object to any such revisions, your sole recourse shall be to stop using the Cursor Marketing Software and the Cursor Marketing Hosted Service.
